A few weeks ago ‘The Write Path’ (https://seethewritepath.wordpress.com/) tagged me into an Outstanding Blogger post with some questions. Now I don’t know 10 blogs to pass this onto but I promised I would answer the questions.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I suppose I have a couple of suggestions – I would love to live in Heron House beside the river Avon near where I live. More exotically (well kind of) I do miss my old uni town of Aberystwyth and really love Pembrokeshire. Australia would be my foreign choice I think I loved visiting Perth.
What is your biggest fear?
Hmm as a sufferer of anxiety picking one fear is a bit of a challenge but here it goes. I guess existentially its being on my own completely but day to say its travel.
What is your favourite book genre?
Well given the nature of this blog it has to be said that Sci-Fi/Fantasy is my first love. I can’t really pick between the two. I do however love historical fiction.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you meet? Why?
It would be easy to pick one of my heroes such as Wellington or a great figure like Buddha or Jesus and I am tempted to go for the Dalai Lama but I actually think I would chose my Grandfather. I had enormous respect for him and I never knew him as an adult and wished I could have.
What is your favourite book? Why?
Wow a toughie. I guess it would have to Frank Herbert’s Dune. Lord of the Rings comes close second as does Robert Jordan’s first Wheel of Time book.
Dune is such an epic universe and the story so nuanced beyond the basic that its a book I can read again and again without it ever getting old.
What is your favourite movie? Why?
Now this is rough. I don’t think I actually have one. I suppose Zulu or 55 Days in Peking come close. But then so do the Original Star Wars films and Star Trek First Contact.
What is the most unusual thing you have ever eaten?
I am a very conservative eater, so I would have to say some dodgy looking salami, spiced ham stuff I had at a campsite in northern Spain. We were on a vegetarian only camping field trip and this was the only meat I could get a hold of.
Are you a cat or a dog person?
Most definitely a dog person. Especially Cocker Spaniels.

What are you most likely to be famous for?
I would like to be remembered for my local natural history work. But as for famous, I m not sure I will be or would want to be.
What are you currently reading?
I must confess to have slowed up on reading lately I have book upon book racked up but at the moment I am reading Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings from the Stormlight Archive. A great read so far. So much lore and unique ideas to wrap my head around.
So thanks ‘The Write Path’ for a set of thought provoking questions.
